Akakura course extends from the foot of Mt. Myoko, one of the 100 famous mountains in Japan. The course has stunning panoramic views of Mt. Myoko, Mt. Kurohime, and Mt. Madarao from every hole.
The plateau style course is flows through birch and white oak trees, surrounding you with nature while you play through the dynamically designed course.
The white sand filled bunkers glisten in the sun and are some of the few in Japan. The contrast with the beautifully manicured green grass makes the course not only visually stunning but also helps the bunkers stand out.
Akakura Golf Course uses a 5-seater electromagnetic induction cart. These advanced carts automatically drive themselves through the course, so you don’t need to worry about steering and driving them on your own.
The course changes through the seasons, so you can enjoy the cool breezes of summer or play surrounded by the colourful leaves of autumn. Here is what you can expect though out the year.
・ Golf course opens between late April to early May.
・ May: Enjoy the beauty of the remaining snow and fresh greeny on Mt. Myoko.
・ June: The turf turns green.
・ August: Play in the cool Myoko summer climate.
・ From mid-October: Play in the beautiful autumn colors.
・ Mid-November: Closed through winter due to snow.
The current course was designed in 1971 by master golf course craftsman Seiichi Inoue who has designed some of the best courses in Japan. At that time 9 holes were added, and the existing 9 holes were remodelled, and the course became the current 18-hole golf course. The design features highly strategic spacious fairways that make the most of nature, trees, ponds, and bunkers that are typical of a plateau style course.
Inoue’s instructions stated that “the natural topography around the green and fairway should be utilized and a modeling method that blends in with the natural environment as much as possible should be adopted.” As a result of this design and method of construction the course feels very natural and part of its surrounding environment.

Prices shown on the left are for weekdays and weekends on the right. If you are a guest of Kanko Hotel then you will get a discount for 'Season' & 'High Season' play.
There are also rates (roughly half price) for half play of 9 holes. Caddy hire is also available: 4Bags 4,400 JPY, 3Bags 4,950 JPY, 2Bags 7,150 JPY, 1Bag 14,300 JPY.
