This weekend will see the 10th annual Shinetsu Trail Running race. This year will hopefully see the first 100-mile course completed as well as the already established 110km course. Last year due to an incoming typhoon hitting the area both races were cut short. This weekend should see some nice weather so competitors will be able to challenge the full 100 miles for the first time.
The 100-mile race will start Saturday evening at 7:30pm at Madarao ski resort area. The top runners are expected to finish around 17hrs later at Iizuna Kogen Highland Hall from 12:00 midday Sunday. The 100km race will start Sunday morning at 5:30am with the top runners finishing around 10 hours later from 15:30 on Sunday.
Many people head to Myoko to take part in this famous ultra-marathon, which will see runners not only from Japan but all over the world taking part.
